- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the entire block of connected rolls in half horizontally to create a top and bottom half. Place the bottom half in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the diced onion until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until no pink remains. Drain the excess fat from the skillet.
- Return the drained beef to the skillet. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and season generously with salt and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Spread the seasoned beef mixture evenly over the bottom layer of rolls in the baking dish.
- Layer the slices of American cheese over the beef, covering it completely. Add any optional toppings (like pickles or bacon) over the cheese.
- Place the top half of the rolls on top to form a 'lid.' Press down gently.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the everything bagel seasoning (or the garlic powder, onion powder, sesame seeds, and salt). Using a pastry brush, generously brush this butter mixture all over the top and sides of the rolls.
- Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the tops are a deep golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes. Use a sharp knife to slice along the roll lines to create individual sliders. Serve immediately.
Notes
Draining the beef fat is crucial to prevent soggy buns. For customization, try ground turkey, shredded buffalo chicken, or different cheeses. The assembled, unbaked dish can be covered and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking; add a few extra minutes to the covered baking time. Reheat leftovers in an air fryer to recrisp or in a 300°F oven covered with foil. Serve with pickles, ketchup, mustard, ranch sauce, coleslaw, or potato chips.
