Ingredients

  • 2 liters ginger ale, lemon-lime soda, or sparkling water, chilled
  • 1 lime, thinly sliced for garnish
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced for garnish
  • Fresh mint or basil sprigs for garnish, optional
  • Simple syrup optional, for added sweetness

Equipment

  • Large punch bowl or salad bowl
  • Ice cream scoop
  • Large spoon or ladle for stirring
  • Measuring cups
  • Juicer (optional, for fresh lime)
  • Ice cube trays (optional, for juice cubes)

Method

  1. Chill all ingredients thoroughly: the limeade, pineapple juice, soda, and punch bowl if possible.
  2. In the chilled punch bowl, combine the thawed limeade concentrate and chilled pineapple juice. Stir until fully blended. (Add spirits like rum or vodka here if using).
  3. Just before serving, slowly pour the chilled soda down the side of the bowl to preserve carbonation. Gently stir once to combine.
  4. Using an ice cream scoop (dipped in hot water for easier scooping), place generous scoops of lime sherbet onto the surface of the punch.
  5. Garnish the punch with thin slices of lime, lemon, and fresh herb sprigs.
  6. Serve immediately by ladling the punch and a scoop of sherbet into individual glasses.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit spirits. To keep punch cold without dilution, freeze pineapple juice or limeade in ice cube trays. The base (limeade and juice) can be mixed a day ahead and refrigerated; add soda and sherbet just before serving. Customize with different sherbet flavors, juices (like cranberry), or spirits (vodka, rum, tequila). If the punch is not sweet/tart enough, adjust with extra limeade or simple syrup.
