Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • Everything bagel seasoning optional
  • Sesame seeds optional
  • Poppy seeds optional
  • BBQ sauce for dipping, optional
  • Ranch dressing for dipping, optional
  • Cheese Sauce for dipping, optional

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment Paper or Silicone Baking Mat
  • Small bowl
  • Pastry brush
  • Pizza cutter or knife
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Open the crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a clean surface. Pinch together any perforations to create a solid sheet.
  3. Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut the dough into small rectangles, about 4 strips lengthwise and 6-8 sections per strip.
  4. Place a mini sausage at the edge of each dough rectangle.
  5. Roll the dough around the sausage, ensuring the seam is on the bottom.
  6. Place the wrapped sausages onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk the egg until smooth.
  8. Brush the tops of each pig in a blanket with the beaten egg.
  9. Optional: Sprinkle the tops with everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, or poppy seeds.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

For easier handling, chill the crescent roll dough briefly if it's too sticky. You can assemble the pigs in a blanket ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking, or freeze for longer storage. For cheese-filled pigs in a blanket, add a small cube of cheese inside the dough with the sausage. Serve with ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, ranch dressing, or cheese sauce for dipping.
