Method
- Preheat oven according to brownie mix instructions (usually around 350°F or 175°C).
- Prepare the brownie batter according to the package directions, using the oil, water, and eggs.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan.
- Bake for the time specified on the box, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool completely before cutting them into bite-sized cubes.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sugar together until smooth and creamy.
- Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
- In a large trifle bowl or individual serving dishes, begin layering the ingredients.
- Start with a layer of brownie cubes.
- Next, add a layer of the Oreo cream filling.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of crushed Oreos over the cream filling.
- Repeat these layers until all of the ingredients are used, ending with a layer of Oreo cream filling and a sprinkle of crushed Oreos on top. Drizzle with chocolate syrup if desired.
- Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve chilled.
Notes
For best results, ensure the brownies are completely cool before assembling the trifle to prevent sogginess. Toasting the brownie cubes lightly can also help. Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened and the heavy cream is whipped to stiff peaks to avoid a runny cream filling. Experiment with different Oreo flavors or add fresh berries for variations. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, but the brownies may become softer over time.
