  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or dill, chopped optional garnish

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or foil
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring cups
  • Oven
  • Fork

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, lemon juice, lemon zest, olive oil, minced garlic, and soy sauce.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
  6. Generously brush the honey lemon glaze over each salmon fillet, making sure to coat them evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  8. For a more caramelized glaze, broil for the last 1-2 minutes, keeping a close eye to prevent burning (optional).
  9. Sprinkle with fresh parsley or dill, if desired.
  10. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

Fresh salmon is best, but frozen works too. Thaw completely before cooking. Don't overcook the salmon; it's done when it flakes easily. For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes or sriracha to the glaze. The glaze can be made ahead and stored for up to 2 days in the refrigerator. Roasted vegetables, quinoa, rice, salad, or garlic mashed potatoes make excellent side dishes. For flavor variations, try honey mustard, maple, or ginger garlic.
