Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 cup coconut cream
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup white rum optional
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 1/2 cups ice
  • Pineapple wedges for garnish
  • Maraschino cherries for garnish
  • Paper umbrellas for garnish

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Glasses (Hurricane glasses recommended)
  • Freezer

Method

  1. Chill your glasses in the freezer for about 15 minutes.
  2. Combine the frozen pineapple chunks, coconut cream, pineapple juice, white rum (if using), and lime juice in your blender.
  3. Add about 1 1/2 cups of ice. Start with less and add more as needed to reach your desired consistency.
  4. Blend on high speed until everything is completely smooth and creamy. If it's having trouble blending, add a splash more pineapple juice.
  5. Taste and adjust. Add simple syrup or agave nectar if it's not sweet enough. Add more lime juice if it's too sweet.
  6. Pour your Frozen Piña Colada into your chilled glasses.
  7. Garnish with pineapple wedges, maraschino cherries, and paper umbrellas.
  8. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

For a Virgin Piña Colada, simply omit the rum. To make a Strawberry Piña Colada, add ½ cup of frozen strawberries to the blender. For a Mango Piña Colada, substitute ½ cup of the frozen pineapple with frozen mango chunks. Store leftovers in the freezer for up to a week. Thaw slightly before serving.
