- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in taco seasoning and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the liquid has been absorbed and the beef is well-seasoned.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Carefully fill each taco shell with the seasoned ground beef mixture.
- Place the filled taco shells upright on the prepared baking sheet, nestling them together for support.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the filled tacos.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the taco shells are heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the tacos cool for a minute or two before serving.
- Top each taco with your favorite toppings such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and salsa.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
For extra crispy tacos, don't overfill the shells and arrange them strategically on the baking sheet. The ground beef filling can be prepped up to 3 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Customize your filling with different vegetables or spice levels.
