Method
- Lightly grease your slow cooker.
- Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the crock pot in a single layer.
- Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix evenly over the chicken breasts.
- Cut the softened cream cheese into cubes and scatter them over the chicken.
- Pour the chicken broth over everything.
- Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. Cooking times may vary depending on your slow cooker, so keep an eye on it.
- Once the chicken is cooked through and easily shreds with a fork, shred it directly in the crock pot using two forks.
- Stir everything together until the chicken is evenly coated in the creamy ranch sauce.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Don't overcook the chicken. Use softened cream cheese for a smoother sauce. Chicken broth adds moisture and flavor. Taste and adjust seasoning after shredding. Let it simmer for 15-30 minutes after shredding to meld the flavors. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for 2-3 months. For a thinner sauce add milk or broth, for a thicker sauce mix cornstarch with water and add in the last 30 minutes.
