Ingredients

  • Mini pretzel twists: 12 ounces
  • Melting chocolate milk, dark, or white
  • Sprinkles: For decorating
  • Vegetable shortening or coconut oil: 1 tablespoon optional

Equipment

  • Baking sheets
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mats
  • Microwave-safe bowls
  • Spoon or fork
  • Small Ziploc bag or piping bag (optional)
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. Arrange mini pretzel twists on the prepared baking sheets in the shape of hearts.
  3. Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth. If the chocolate is too thick, stir in a tablespoon of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to thin it out.
  4. Dip each pretzel heart into the melted chocolate using a fork or spoon, or transfer the melted chocolate to a small Ziploc bag or piping bag, snip off a tiny corner, and drizzle the chocolate over the pretzel hearts.
  5. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle generously with your favorite sprinkles.
  6. Place the baking sheets in the refrigerator or freezer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.
  7. Gently peel the Chocolate Pretzel Hearts off the parchment paper and enjoy.

Notes

Store Chocolate Pretzel Hearts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Customize with different sprinkles and colors to match any holiday or special occasion. For a peanut butter swirl, drizzle melted peanut butter over the chocolate before it sets. You can also drizzle melted white chocolate over dark chocolate for a beautiful contrast. Or sprinkle with sea salt for an extra salty-sweet kick.
