Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked, shredded chicken rotisserie chicken works well
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 3/4 cup ranch dressing
  • 8 slices provolone or Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Serrated bread knife
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Small microwave-safe bowl
  • Whisk
  • Pastry brush
  • Aluminum foil
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.
  2. Without separating the rolls, use a serrated knife to slice the entire slab in half horizontally, creating a top and bottom layer. Place the bottom slab into the prepared dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, crumbled bacon, and ranch dressing. Stir until everything is evenly coated.
  4. Spread the chicken mixture evenly over the bottom slab of rolls, reaching all the way to the edges.
  5. Lay the slices of provolone cheese over the chicken mixture to cover it completely.
  6. Place the top slab of rolls back on, lining it up with the bottom.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, dry ranch seasoning packet, garlic powder, and dried parsley until well combined.
  8. Using a pastry brush, generously brush the butter glaze all over the tops and sides of the rolls.
  9. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and gooey.
  10. Remove the aluminum foil and bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until the tops of the rolls are golden brown and slightly crisp.
  11. Let the sliders rest for a few minutes before slicing along the roll lines and serving warm.

Notes

Expert Tips: For the best melt, grate your own cheese from a block instead of using pre-sliced. Don't be shy with the butter glaze; let it drip down the sides for crispy, flavorful edges.
Substitutions: Soft dinner rolls or brioche buns can be used instead of Hawaiian rolls. Cheddar, Colby Jack, or Swiss are great cheese alternatives.
Variations: For a spicy kick, add a layer of pickled jalapeños. For a different flavor, swap the ranch dressing for your favorite BBQ sauce. Mix in chopped green onions or chives for added freshness.
