Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats not instant
  • 1 cup milk dairy or non-dairy
  • 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt optional
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar light or dark, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon optional
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, honey, or maple syrup

Equipment

  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Spoon or stirring utensil

Method

  1. Combine rolled oats, milk, Greek yogurt (if using), brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon (if using), and salt in a jar or container with a lid.
  2. Stir thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well combined and the brown sugar is dissolved.
  3. Cover the jar or container tightly and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  4. In the morning, stir the overnight oats well. If they seem too thick, add a splash more milk to reach your desired consistency.
