Method
- In a large bowl, gently combine the ground chicken, panko breadcrumbs, egg, diced onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Use your hands to mix everything together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the burgers tough.
- Divide the chicken mixture into 4 equal portions.
- Gently shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Try to make them as uniform as possible so they cook evenly.
- Place the shaped patties on a plate or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully place the chicken burgers in the skillet (don't overcrowd the pan; you may need to cook them in batches).
- Cook for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until the burgers are cooked through and golden brown. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
- While the burgers are cooking, prepare your buns and toppings.
- Once the burgers are cooked, remove them from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Assemble your burgers! Spread your favorite sauce on the buns, add lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and finally, the juicy chicken burger.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Don't overmix the chicken mixture to avoid tough burgers. Rest the mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before shaping patties for better flavor and shape. If the ground chicken seems dry, add a tablespoon or two of milk or chicken broth. Experiment with different herbs and spices like Italian seasoning, chili powder, or cumin. Toast the burger buns for added texture and to prevent sogginess. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken burgers are cooked through to 165°F (74°C).
