Thermomix scones


Recipe may contain gluten, milk, sesame, wheat and lactose.

Make fluffy scones in a flash with this easy Thermomix recipe. Simply add jam and a dollop of whipped cream, and you’ll have the perfect breakfast (or afternoon tea), minus the fuss!

7 Ingredients

  • 450g (3 cups) self-raising flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 2 tbsp caster sugar

  • 70 butter, chilled, chopped

  • 310g (1 1/4 cups) milk, plus 1 tbsp extra, to brush

  • Strawberry jam, to serve

  • Whipped cream, to serve

5 Method Steps

  • Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 220C/200C fan forced. Line a large baking tray with baking paper.

    Place the flour

    (450g (3 cups) self-raising flour), baking powder (1/2 tsp baking powder), sugar (2 tbsp caster sugar), butter (70 butter, chilled, chopped) and a large pinch of salt into the Thermomix mixing bowl. Mix for 5 seconds/speed 8.

  • Step 3

    Add the milk (310g (1 1/4 cups) milk, plus 1 tbsp extra, to brush) and combine for 10 seconds/speed 5. Choose the knead option and knead for 20 seconds.

  • Step 4

    Transfer dough to a lightly floured work surface and press out to a 2cm-thick disc. Dip a 5cm-round cutter into flour (to prevent the dough sticking) and cut out scones. Transfer scones to the prepared tray, just touching each other. Gently press remaining dough together and repeat to make 16 scones

  • Step 5

    Brush the top of each scone with the extra milk. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden. Set aside on the tray for 5 minutes to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack. Serve the scones warm or room temperature with jam (Strawberry jam, to serve) and cream (Whipped cream, to serve).
