Rainbow cloud bread

Popular on TikTok, this light and fluffy cloud bread is perfect for dipping into melted chocolate. Our version is made without cream cheese or Greek yoghurt.

7 Ingredients


  • 2 tbsp cornflour

  • 3 egg whites

  • 55g (1/4 cup) caster sugar

  • 3 tsp vanilla extract

  • Green, yellow, blue and pink food colouring, to tint

  • Whipped cream, to serve

  • Lemon curd or strawberry jam (optional), to serve

4 Method Steps


  • Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 140C /120C fan forced. Trace a 20cm circle onto a sheet of baking paper. Turn over and place on a large baking tray. Dust the centre of the circle with 2 teaspoons of the cornflour.

  • Step 2

    Use electric beaters with the whisk attachment to whisk the egg whites in a large bowl for 30 seconds or until frothy. Gradually add the sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is thick and glossy. Beat in the vanilla and remaining cornflour.

  • Step 3

    Spoon the egg mixture into four separate bowls and tint each with food colouring.

  • Step 4

    Spoon alternate dollops of the coloured egg white mixture into a mound on the prepared tray. Shape the mixture into about a 5cm deep, 14cm circle . Bake for 25 minutes or until light golden, puffed and slightly firm to touch. Serve immediately.

This kid-friendly novelty ‘bread’ isn’t like regular sliced bread. Small pieces can be used to dip into cream, curds, jams or melted chocolate, or serve with sliced fruits.
