Apple fritter bread

Recipe may contain gluten, milk, sesame, egg and wheat.

All the flavour of an apple fritter but in a loaf form. Use canned apples to make life easier and don’t forget to drizzle that icing!

10 Ingredients


  • 300g (2 cups) self-raising flour

  • 125g butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup raw caster sugar

  • 200ml thickened cream

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

  • 1/2 x 400g can pie apples

  • 1 tsp powdered cinnamon

  • 150g (1 cup) icing sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla paste

  • 2 tbsp milk

5 Method Steps


  • Step 1

    Preheat oven to 190C/170C fan forced. Grease and line a 20cm x 10cm (base measurement) loaf pan with baking paper, allowing paper to overhang on all sides.

    (300g (2 cups) self-raising flour) in a large bowl. Using fingertips, rub in butter (125g butter, softened). Add 1/4 cup caster sugar, the cream (200ml thickened cream) and egg (1 egg, lightly beaten). Using a flat-bladed knife, and in a cutting motion, mix ingredients together to form a wet dough.


  • Step 3

    Combine apple (1/2 x 400g can pie apples), cinnamon (1 tsp powdered cinnamon) and remaining caster sugar (150g (1 cup) icing sugar) in a separate bowl. Fold into the dough until just combined.

  • Step 4

    Spoon mixture into prepared pan. Bake for 60 to 65 minutes or until golden. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • Step 5

    Combine icing sugar, vanilla (1 tsp vanilla paste) and milk (2 tbsp milk) in a bowl. Drizzle icing over cake. Set aside to set. Serve.
