Air fryer nuts and bolts


Recipe may contain gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, milk and sesame.

With Nutri-grain, pretzels and nuts, you can’t go past this slightly sweet, slightly spicy nuts and bolts recipe cooked in the air fryer.

12 Ingredients

  • 2 cups dried farfalle pasta

  • 60ml (1/4 cup) extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 2 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder

  • 1 cup pretzels

  • 80g (1/2 cup) raw macadamias

  • 80g (1/2 cup) raw cashews

  • 1 cup Kellog’s Nutri-grain cereal

  • 1 tsp sea salt

  • Step 1

    Cook pasta

    (2 cups dried farfalle pasta) in a large saucepan of boiling salted water until just tender. Drain well. Transfer to a tray. Pat dry with paper towel. Transfer to a large bowl.

  • Step 2

    Combine oil (60ml (1/4 cup) extra virgin olive oil), sugar (2 tbsp brown sugar), paprika (2 tsp smoked paprika), onion (1 tsp onion powder), garlic (1/2 tsp garlic powder) and chilli powders (1/2 tsp chilli powder) in a small bowl. Spoon half of the mixture over pasta. Toss to coat.

  • Step 3

    Preheat air fryer on 200C. Place pasta in air fryer basket. Cook for 5 minutes. Shake basket. Cook for a further 5-6 minutes or until golden and crisp. Transfer to a large bowl.

  • Step 4

    Place pretzels (1 cup pretzels) and nuts (80g (1/2 cup) raw macadamias|80g (1/2 cup) raw cashews) in a bowl. Add remaining spice mixture. Toss to coat. Place in air fryer basket. Cook on 180C for 3 minutes. Shake basket. Cook for a further 2-3 minutes or until golden. Add to pasta, then add cereal (1 cup Kellog’s Nutri-grain cereal). Sprinkle with salt (1 tsp sea salt). Toss to combine. Cool completely. Serve.
