1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/4 tsp Mexican chilli powder
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp vegetable oil
330g streaky bacon rashers, at room temperature (see notes)
3 Method Steps
Step 1Combine garlic powder
(1/2 tsp garlic powder), paprika
(1 tsp smoked paprika), chilli
(1/4 tsp Mexican chilli powder), sugar
(2 tbsp brown sugar) and oil
(1 tbsp vegetable oil) in a medium bowl.
Step 2Cut bacon
(330g streaky bacon rashers, at room temperature (see notes)) lengthways into 3.5cm wide strips. Brush both sides of bacon strips with the spice mixture.
Step 3Twist 1 bacon strip and place in the air fryer. Repeat with remaining bacon (see notes). Cook at 180C for 12-15 minutes or until golden. Set aside, in airfryer, for 2 minutes before transferring to a plate to cool slightly. Serve.
The bacon rashers should not be too thick as they will untwist. We used Primo Wood Smoked Streaky Rindless Bacon but any thinly sliced streaky bacon will work. Cut the larger pieces of bacon into three strips.
When placing the bacon in the airfryer, it’s best to have them touching as this will help them hold their shape when they cook.
Don’t use bacon straight out of the fridge. Let it stand for 30 mins as this makes it easier to twist.
