OLIVIA SMITH

Hi everyone! I’m Olivia Smith.

I am the creative partner, lead writer, and the official “quality control” expert at The Recipes Mom. While Emily focuses on the visual and technical side of the blog, I am here to tell the story behind every dish.

My Role: The Bridge Between the Kitchen and You
Have you ever read a recipe that was confusing or missed a step? My job is to ensure that never happens here.
I come from a background in creative writing, and I believe that a recipe is more than just a list of ingredients—it’s a guide. I work closely with Emily to break down her recipes into clear, simple instructions. I ask the questions you might ask: “Can I substitute this?”, “What if I don’t have a blender?”, “Can I freeze this?” and I make sure we answer them in the post.

The “Partner” in Crime
Emily and I make a great team because we have different strengths—and different palates!

  • The Taste Tester: I have a background in exploring international cuisines. I love pushing us to try bolder spices and new flavor combinations. If a dish tastes a bit “flat,” I’m the one suggesting a squeeze of lemon or a dash of chili flakes to wake it up.
  • The Content Creator: I manage a lot of the behind-the-scenes writing. I want you to feel like you’re in the kitchen with a friend when you read our blog, not just reading a manual.

Life Outside the Blog
When I am not debating with Emily about the perfect amount of sugar in a cookie recipe, I am usually:

  • Reading: I am a huge bookworm (cookbooks count as real books, right?).
  • Traveling: I love discovering new foods in different cities and trying to recreate them when I get back home.
  • Entertaining: I love hosting dinner parties for friends, which is the ultimate testing ground for our new recipes.

My Top Tip for Home Cooks:
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes! Some of our best recipes came from “happy accidents” in the kitchen. Cooking should be fun, messy, and delicious.

I hope you enjoy reading our posts as much as I enjoy writing them!
